Reflection             Regarding my photo essay honestly growing up as a minority in America and witnessing various hardships, I wanted to represent that within this project. As there have been multiple movements contributing to go against opposing factors towards minorities, this is one of my own so that people are still aware of the daily struggles.               As an African American living in America, this was the main influence within my photo essay. I’m grateful that a platform like a photo essay is a form of art to really show and represent my culture in a positive. Although many people may think a culture has to show why they matter, it’s sad that we still live in a world where showing that you matter must happen. Our country is slowly repeating history due to racism being at a high. Honestly to me personally, being black is a gift. No matter who you are or w...

10 pics for my photo essay

This shows how the main character wants to reach success and do the best he can do for him and his family. This photo represents how they're major obstacles and distractions that will come along within the main character community. Especially things that involve people who look like him, showing hate towards one another. Since mass incarceration is a huge problem in america this is another factor that is very common in the neighborhood the main character lives in. People are getting arrested from left to right. This is the aftermath of how mass incarceration can leave families split a part. The main character has to see visit his father while he is in prison. The crabs in the bucket theory shows how the black community can be detrimental to itself due from gang violence and always trying to put one another down. The main character will experience this from people trying to put him down because he wants better for himself. Protest against police are going on aroun...

Story Idea for my picture essay

Image
The idea of my story essay will portray a young African American male who is trying to be above his statistics . Despite what society thinks he should be, his future is in his hands. No matter what obstacles stand in his way, determination will be with him along his journey. Each photo will describe his journey and a chance to be dropped in a life that many seem to think doesn't exist. This photo above will be one of the photos that will go along with the story of how the main character is trying to rise above the opposition. But not only is he judged by authorities by even the people within the same demographic. By outside forces who think he is just like the rest, the power of self motivation and a strong support system will help him succeed his chances on going to college. He wants to make it out of the neighborhood he lives without the opposing forces that tries to hold him back.

What kind of world would be imaginative enough to create and call my own? Well according to Keri Smith that world can be generated through developing each element and combining them to make an "imaginary world". Through the database its a mental structure that the reader can take in order to formulate their ideal world. Taking to basic forms of using the imagination to create something that is outside of what reality is. What makes it unique is that it's your own world that was developed by the elements that was put together.  My imaginary world would be a sub universe within my mind in which I would have the ability to retreat to whenever. As one looks upon the sky it would be a window through my eyes which would show everyday life. The clouds would be made up of my brain cells. As it rains my ideas would fall from the sky. The trees would be brain stems and the buildings would represent my emotions. Bright ideas would represent daylight as everyone is joyful and fu...
