Story Idea for my picture essay

The idea of my story essay will portray a young African American male who is trying to be above his statistics. Despite what society thinks he should be, his future is in his hands. No matter what obstacles stand in his way, determination will be with him along his journey. Each photo will describe his journey and a chance to be dropped in a life that many seem to think doesn't exist.

This photo above will be one of the photos that will go along with the story of how the main character is trying to rise above the opposition. But not only is he judged by authorities by even the people within the same demographic. By outside forces who think he is just like the rest, the power of self motivation and a strong support system will help him succeed his chances on going to college. He wants to make it out of the neighborhood he lives without the opposing forces that tries to hold him back.

Podcast reflection and podcast link

Regarding my podcast it was very interesting to create. It was the first time ever that I recorded myself speaking with others about something that I’m passionate about. Usually I hate hearing myself after I recorded my voice but that was a comfort zone I had to get out of. Developing a script for the podcast was cool as well but it helped a lot, so I might not sound scripted. Other than that, I felt like I did alright regarding dialog and just to keep things interested in the listener. As there aren’t many podcasts about poetry, it was great to be a part of a genre that there should be podcast for. Many people might think it’s just people reading poetry, but its more than that. Connecting to any who is interested in poetry is the goal. I think the podcast format is not necessarily the best format for poetry, but it can be something that can be a part of hopefully the expansion of this genre on all platforms.
