Premiere Vide Editing Tutorial
Various video editing software such as Adobe Premiere is another way to really make a project look more polished and professional. For starters this video editing software is on both mac and window computers. Once purchased or already downloaded this can be found either on the desktop or where most of the applications are.
Before opening the software, be sure open a new folder called “Premiere Project or P project”. Within that create an image folder and a video clip folder. These two folders will help when gathering materials needed for the project that will be created. For this tutorial find at least two images and 1 recorded video of your liking. When adding videos be sure to convert them into mp4 using this website: https://offmp3.app/sites/convert-offliberty-video-online or Videos.pexels.com. Also, for the music portion either put in self created or use https://www.bensound.com/ for any music of your choice. This website is royalty free.
Now that everything has been collected open up premiere. When clicked another tab will open, click new project title it “Pproject or Premiere Project”. After that click ok. There will be four panels on your screen. The panel at the top left represents the video with all your clips combines. Second panel at top right represents an individual clip or image you would like to view by itself . It helps a lot when it comes to adding effects or adding text. Third panel bottom left, is where effects and different elements can be found. Also, includes a search bar if one has trouble finding a certain effect. Most of your video clip files and image files will be in this panel as well. Fourth panel at the bottom right represents where the editing of audio files or images will take place. Most files will be dragged into this panel.
Go to your files and drag the premiere project folder into the third panel at the bottom left. Once its clicked, all the files within that folder will open up. Be sure to drag image or video to any of the three other panels. If image or video can’t fit the screen, right click and select “scale to frame”. Work with each panel to learn about their individual attributes Don’t forget after a video, image or effect is added hit enter to render. This makes sure once everything is uploaded your project will run smoothly. The red lines in the fourth panel will turn green once everything is rendered. Then save it to your box or email it to yourself.
To get into it more of the fundamentals of premiere comes cropping, transitions, and embedding text. When it comes to cropping Cropping videos. Drag the video you want to edit in the first panel. Then by the icon that says marker there will be two other icons The first icon will say Mark in. Pick where you want the chosen portion to start. The second icon will say Mark out. Choose when to end You can clear the in and out markers by left clicking the marked portion. An option that says “clear in and out” should be present . Once that’s done drag the footage to the last panel. Cropping a video helps with adding different effects to each individual clip. Also, if you want to get video with just audio there is a way you can crop that portion of the part that is chosen. Use the same icons to choose where to start and begin. At the bottom of the cropped audio there should be two icons. The icon that looks like an audio clip needs to be dragged over in the fourth panel. This means that the portion cropped will include the audio only. Only cropping video can be made possible by doing those same steps but choosing the video only option. As this process is completed, adding video and audio effects will make a project pop.
Video and audio effects can be found at the top of the first panel on the effects tab or the bottom left panel within the effects tab. Be sure to always hit enter or return to do something called rendering. Rendering is to in a way polish any new added effects or transitions. This comes in handy when exported the project. Video effects change things within the video that was chosen or embedded. When this tab is clicked place or drag the effect on whichever portion that is chose. Same goes for video transitions, drag the effect at the end of a clip so it smoothly transitions to another clip. These same steps should be followed when it comes to audio effects and transitions. Now on to incorporating text within video projects.
A text box can be found on the left of the fourth panel. It is the letter T as an icon
Click on the specific image or video. It should show up on the second panel (Top right)Make a text box on that specific footage or image To change the font and color go to effects controls in the first panel at the top. Then under the time remaining tab you will see “Text(your text)”Click it and you should be able to change the font and the color.

Everything above can be labeled as fundamental tools when working with premiere. Using the basics of the program will help one enhance or simply try new things in making a great project.
Before completing your project be sure to render everything if anything is red or yellow. As mentioned before to render it enter or return. If any yellow bars are seen be sure to crop the portion with the yellow bar above and go to sequence at the top. Then a tab that says “render all” should come up. Click on it. Once that is clicked everything that has the yellow bar above it should be rendered. When exporting the project, hit export as media and wait as it will export. When it exports upload it to YouTube or any source that makes it a accessible link.
